EPISODE 12 / FREE LESSON
SaaS community research and marketing
Where Are This SaaS’s Buyers Already Talking?
A community is a place to understand and help people, not a list of leads to extract. Use Taploop to find relevant conversations, learn the local rules, and prepare a contribution that stands on its own.

The written lesson is ready below.
THE GROWTH QUESTION
Finding communities
Start by understanding the conversation and earning a place in it through useful participation.
What you’ll learn
- Recognize a community with relevant conversations.
- Learn norms before participating.
- Measure useful interaction without treating members as leads.
BEFORE YOU START
Bring the evidence you have.
- A buyer profile and problem vocabulary
- Public community sources or authorized search access
- Community rules and recent discussions
- Practical expertise or resources the team can share
Use information you have permission to share. If a data source isn’t connected, provide a relevant export or ask Taploop to work from the evidence available.
WORK THROUGH IT WITH TAPLOOP
From question to a testable plan.
- 01
Search for the problem language
Ask Taploop to research the words buyers use for a recurring problem, including workarounds and questions. Use available sources and retain dates and links. A large member count is less useful than repeated, relevant discussions from the intended audience.
- 02
Read the room
Compare a few communities for activity, role fit, discussion quality, rules, and whether commercial participation is allowed. Read actual threads before drawing conclusions. Do not infer membership identity, purchase intent, or permission for direct contact from public participation.
- 03
Prepare a useful contribution
Draft one answer, checklist, or example that directly addresses an existing need. Disclose affiliation where relevant and include a product link only if appropriate under the rules. Review and approve any post or reply before publication.
MAKE IT YOURS
A prompt to try with Taploop
Add your company’s context and supporting evidence, then use this with your AI agent connected to Taploop.
Find or analyze communities where this buyer discusses this problem, using available public sources or the examples I provide. For each, record relevant conversations, dates, rules, audience evidence, and uncertainty. Recommend one place to learn and contribute. Draft a useful response without a forced pitch, and identify what needs review before posting. Do not contact members or publish.
YOUR EXPERIMENT BRIEF
One useful community contribution
Adapt this proposed test to your company. Set the baseline and decision rule before launch.
- Hypothesis
- A practical contribution in a relevant community will create substantive discussion with people experiencing the problem.
- One action
- Publish one approved contribution that follows the community’s rules and respond helpfully to permitted discussion.
- Measure
- Relevant questions and substantive conversations; count any voluntarily requested next steps separately.
- Review window
- Observe for one to two weeks, respecting the community’s pace.
- Decision rule
- Continue if the contribution is useful and welcomed. Stop promotional activity if rules or moderator feedback indicate it is inappropriate.
Review the audience, message, owner, budget, and measurement plan. Publishing, outreach, and spending require your approval.
THE FOLLOW-UP
The real-world experiment
The featured company and experiment are still to come. When this episode is produced, this section will include the starting point, the approved action, and a follow-up with measured results.
