SaaS audience research
This SaaS Gets Attention—but Not From Buyers

The written lesson is ready below.
THE GROWTH QUESTION
Attracting attention from the wrong audience
The useful question is who moves toward solving the problem, and why—not just who reacts.
What you’ll learn
- Separate audience activity from buying intent.
- Describe a buyer using observable evidence.
- Test a message aimed at a specific buying situation.
BEFORE YOU START
Bring the evidence you have.
- Product description and current offer
- A small sample of recent posts and responses
- Anonymized customer or qualified lead examples
- Current conversion definitions and baseline
Use information you have permission to share. If a data source isn’t connected, provide a relevant export or ask Taploop to work from the evidence available.
WORK THROUGH IT WITH TAPLOOP
From question to a testable plan.
- 01
Map the attention
Give Taploop the available audience evidence through a connected source or an uploaded sample. Ask it to group responses by role, stated problem, and apparent reason for engaging. Keep unknowns visible; a job title or a like does not establish purchase intent.
- 02
Compare with actual buyers
Provide examples of customers or qualified conversations, with sensitive details removed. Ask what distinguishes them from the wider audience: triggering event, cost of the problem, authority, and current workaround. Trace each conclusion back to evidence.
- 03
Change one invitation
Draft one piece of content about a buyer-specific situation and one relevant next step. Review the wording and approve any publication. Use the same qualification questions for every response so the new message can be compared fairly.
MAKE IT YOURS
A prompt to try with Taploop
Add your company’s context and supporting evidence, then use this with your AI agent connected to Taploop.
Help me understand whether our attention comes from potential buyers. Using the evidence I provide, compare engaged people with customers and qualified leads. Separate observed facts, inferences, and missing information. Recommend one buyer situation to address, draft one message and call to action, and propose a small test. Wait for my approval before any external action.
YOUR EXPERIMENT BRIEF
A buyer-specific invitation
Adapt this proposed test to your company. Set the baseline and decision rule before launch.
- Hypothesis
- Addressing one urgent buying situation will increase the share of responses that fit our buyer criteria.
- One action
- Publish one approved message in an existing channel, with a clear next step and consistent qualification questions.
- Measure
- Qualified responses divided by all substantive responses; also record reach and total responses.
- Review window
- Observe for seven days, then allow time for conversations to mature.
- Decision rule
- Continue if fit improves and enough people respond to interpret it. Low volume means gather more evidence, not declare a winner.
Review the audience, message, owner, budget, and measurement plan. Publishing, outreach, and spending require your approval.
THE FOLLOW-UP
The real-world experiment
The featured company and experiment are still to come. When this episode is produced, this section will include the starting point, the approved action, and a follow-up with measured results.
